Blazers Hockey Game
Friday the 4th January the Casey Clan was introduced to the game of ice hockey. The Kamloops local team – the Blazers were playing the all American team in Selena’s hometown. The night was just like you see on TV (yes we all know I watch way too much of the square box). We had front row seats but with the addition of a huge 10ft plastic wall surrounding us. We were treated to the upstairs VIP area during ½ time and the kids were given a Kamloops Puck as a souvenir. The hometown team won 3-2. I couldn’t believe that we got to see a ice fight during the second half of the match. Little did I know, but when two players throw down their gloves at each other, it means they are wanting to fight. I thought that they were doing a mock punch up for the fans to enjoy but once I saw that one made contact with his opponents cheek, I knew then that this was for real. The rules are until each player hits the ice, the referee can not split the fight up. How barbaric – all that testosterone has to be dispersed somehow. After the game we headed off to Green Lake which is about a 2 ½ hour drive away.
