Snowmobiles- Green Lake
We arrived at Green Lake very late after the Blazers Hockey match. We started the next day with a hearty breakfast (no bear food products this time) as we were heading off down to the lake for some snow mobiling and ice skating. I should mention that Selena’s friend Lisa who came out for Michael’s 40th came along this day with us, and her husband Jason is the one responsible for the bear delicacies. Selena’s friends house backed onto Green Lake which is very vast in size. Check out the photos on our blog of the ice rink that he made with his son. It took 4 adults to clear the snow off the ice rink so that we could have a game of ice hockey. We thought it would be great to have our own Aussie vs Canadians ice hockey match. Unfortunately Kieran tripped over on the ice, went down mouth first, chipped a tooth (only a baby one – OUCH) we decided that we would have to postpone the match for another time. Jack owns 4 ski doos (another ski lingo for you) so we each were able to have a turn on one of them. The kids and I were doubled majority of the time, but I plucked up the courage to have a go with steering and driving one myself. The idea of driving heavy machinery over a frozen lake sounds bizarre – but to my amazement it was rather easy (even the kids had a go driving – check it out on the blog). We took it in turns for the adults to go for some high speed riding. These ski doos can reach up to 160km per hour and when you are in open water with the wind slapping you in the face (and the spray of snow) you get such an adrenalin rush (I know I did). When it was Michael’s turn after lunch to go with the adults – Selena’s friend Jack put his jacuzzi on for the kids and me. It was something like minus 15 degrees outside and the kids and I were emerged in a hot tub – you can imagine what it was like getting out of it. One minute you are warm and fuzzy – next BRAIN AND BODY FREEZE. It sure wakes you up! We left that night after the kids had a jamming session with Jack and his son Sean.
