Today is our third day in Adelaide. We arrived Monday evening around 5.30pm so really it's our second full day. Yesterday we went exploring through "Central Market". This is not that dissimilar to the Victorian Markets in Melbourne. The array of food such as fresh vegies/meat etc is amazing - and cheap! Why is it that Sydney is so expensive and we don't have this idea of having a fresh produce market for all to enjoy. There were even cheese counters/coffee counters - you name it they sold it here. This is where we met up with Michael's cousin Brad. Coffee shops are in abundance here - a bit like Melbourne, so you are guaranteed that the coffee is going to be good as they have so many others to compete against. From there we ventured down to Port Adelaide, this is a sleepy suburb of Adelaide in the winter time but during summer it would be the busiest. We wandered down towards the bay and to our delight there was a swarm of dolphins frolicking around close to us. No need to go on a boat cruise - they just come into the bay for a play. The afternoon was then spent with the kids playing/learning table tennis and pool. Oh forgot to mention that we are staying at a Youth Hostel smack bang in the middle of the city. Not bad price and we have our own bathroom and best of all walking distance to everything.
Our day today was spent walking the city and viewing the amazing architectural structures of the buildings. The weather was kind to us (has been raining for over a week here), so to me there is no better way to go exploring than on foot. The afternoon was then spent up at Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills. Amazing scenary and beautiful landscape considering we were 710m above sea level. What amazes me is the houses in Adelaide has a huge influence of english tutor style homes. These is rather evident as well amongst buildings in the city. Tomorrow our plan is to head down to Victor Harbour. Watch this space for photo's.
